The Book of Silences
Robert Bringhurst 2000

In this book of poems by Robert Bringhurst, the poet ruminates upon the nature of Zen Buddhist thought by turning over the stones of its history and pre-history, while echoing the voices of its philosopher-monks in his own poetic voice.

Printed in Meridien in three colors onto dampened Moulin du Verger, a French handmade paper. The text is augmented by two hand-sensitized platinum photographs by Carolee Campbell. The limp paper binding uses Barcham Green’s Renaissance V paper, handmade at the Hayle Mill in England, together with a rough Moulin du Verger handmade chaff paper. The book is enclosed in a protective case of Renaissance III paper over boards and lined with a handmade Japanese melon-vine paper.
